Why Colour Analysis is the Key to Starting Your Style Journey

When I first began working as a personal stylist, I realised that diving straight into a full wardrobe makeover can feel overwhelming for a lot of women. The time, the investment, the emotional energy of letting go of pieces you’ve held onto for years – it’s a lot to take on at once, especially if you already feel disconnected from your style.

That’s why I added colour analysis to my personal styling services. It’s a beautiful, gentle way to begin your style journey – a way for women to take a small but powerful step back to themselves without feeling like they have to reinvent everything overnight.

Colour is the first layer of style. Before we notice the cut, fabric, or brand, it’s colour that draws us in. It has an energetic power – it makes us feel something before we even try a piece on. It influences how we show up and how confidently we carry ourselves.

Adding colour analysis to my styling felt so natural because it gives my clients a clear, confident starting point to build a wardrobe that truly feels like them. It’s often the missing link for women who feel hopeless about their style and don’t know where to begin.

During a seasonal colour analysis session, we start by figuring out if your undertones run warm or cool. From there, we determine your home season – Winter or Summer (cool seasons), or Spring or Autumn (warm seasons). I then take things a step further to see if minor tweaks can create even more harmony by assessing flow palettes – when two home season palettes come together to form a palette with characteristics of each. We also look at your best metals, makeup colours, and your top 12 best colours within your palette. At the end, you receive a swatch booklet showcasing all your colours along with details about how they work with your undertones and natural features.

But it’s more than just pretty colours – this swatch booklet becomes a style tool and a permission slip. It gives you clarity on what is and isn’t serving you in your wardrobe. I see it all the time: clients holding onto pieces they’ve had forever, even though they never reach for them. When they realise it’s not one of their colours, it’s like they finally have permission to let it go.

Colour analysis is the secret first step to rediscovering your style. It filters out the overwhelm and helps you build a wardrobe rooted in confidence, with pieces that align with who you are today. It’s an easy, gentle way to dip your toes back into the world of personal styling and begin feeling like you again.

If you’re feeling a little lost, tired of settling, and ready to reconnect with yourself through style, colour analysis is a powerful place to start. It’s more than a style tool – it’s a way to find your way back to yourself, one colour at a time.
